The Need for Maturity and Unity in the Church

Today we will look at some scriptures that speak of the increase of wickedness in the last days. The Apostle Paul had insight and revelation of what it would be like in the days of the LORD’S return. He gives Timothy clear instructions, knowing that the church will have to deal with these things.

I TIMOTHY 4:1
The Spirit clearly says that in the latter times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

II TIMOTHY 3:1-5
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
In verses 2-4 Paul goes on to tell us what these terrible times will produce in the hearts of many people that have a form of godliness but denying it’s power. He is not talking about the power for healing or miracles, but denying the power of godliness to become disciples and change their character. Therefore, they are overtaken by the increase of wickedness.

II TIMOTHY 4:1-4
In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, Who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His Kingdom I give you this charge:
Paul goes on to talk about a coming time when men will not put up with sound doctrine but will only listen to teaching that they want to hear.

II PETER 3:1-17
Peter is also speaking of the last days (verse 3) and giving instructions for holy living. He states in verses 15-16 that Paul also wrote with the wisdom of God concerning these matters in all his letters.

Jesus also warns us in MATTHEW 24 where He is answering the Apostles’ questions concerning the signs of His coming and the end of the age.

MATTHEW 24;10
At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other.

MATTHEW 24:11 Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.

MATTHEW 24 :12 Because of the increase of wickedness the love of many will grow cold.

MATTHEW 24:13 But he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

MATTHEW 24:14 And this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations and then the end will come.

Remember, they asked Him for the sign of the end of the age.

The end coincides with the preaching of the Gospel to all nations, during a time of an increase of wickedness and the love of many growing cold. This is also the time of the harvest, as Jesus said that it was at the end of the age. (MATTHEW 13:37-39) This will also be the time of the Holy Spirit being poured out to bring in the harvest. ACTS 2:17-21

In view of these scriptures on wickedness increasing and God’s power being released, we must see the need for maturity and unity in the church of our Lord Jesus. He wants us ready to oversee and coordinate this powerful ingathering of the harvest in our cities and region. Those of us who are hearing clearly what the Spirit is saying to the church must be ready. This is not church as usual, but preparing for the end of the age with the Kingdom of God being released in the midst of wickedness.

The Lord spoke to me concerning being ready for this time. He said, “The key to knowing that you are not ready is thinking that you are!”
